My Day Zero List

Can be found here

If you have time take a look. I hope it inspires some more people to make their own list.

I started my weekend looking at Adele's myspace page and found a picture of her Dallas concert that I was at!!! I'm AT the back, bottom level near the bar (of course).

We went for breakfast at D-Bah. They are environmentally conscious, plates and cups are biodegradable. Their slogan for this was "whales don't like detergent". I still prefer my coffee out of a ceramic cup... sorry whales.

It's late in the afternoon and we are sitting here watching Grand Designs. We also indulged on a Max Brenner Chocolate Frappe! I love weekends.

Works in progress

I've been working on 2 series of drawings 1. Cities I've Visited 2. Australian Wildflowers. I jump back and forth between them... when I really should be working on a drawing for a friends bedroom.
Today is a beautiful sunny, slight breeze off the ocean type of day so I packed my drawing book and walked to Cafe Le Monde in Kirra. I love this cafe! It's nice having somewhere where I can walk to get a coffee/drink/food (living in Melbourne I was spoilt for choice, living in Katherine there was no choice and in Dallas we drove everywhere). My Las Vegas picture is almost finished, I changed some of the picture and added Caesars Palace in. I'm stuck on what to put in the top corner... not going to stress, I know it will come to me... maybe a wedding chapel (that was fast). When I was paying the girl asked if my drawing was just a hobby... it really is just a hobby - need to work on being rich and famous!!
My wildflowers are progressing too - still stuck on the banksia though. I drew a Banksia picture for my friends wedding present, I wish I had taken a photo to share with you all. The banksia has evolved from just a drawing into a screenprint template... it was harder than I thought and I think I need a new blade to cut my stencil out with.

This is a test print - printed on paper with acrylic paint. But you get the idea.

I wonder what I will create this afternoon

Madeit OR Etsy

I've been asking myself this a lot lately... Madeit or Etsy?
I've started to add more items to my madeit store.... why? Because it's Australian, every crafter sells in Aussie prices! I know the Australian to US dollar exchange is really high at the moment.. but I still see lots of Aussie etsy stores that only work in US dollars and don't give another option for Australian buyers (this is fine now, but when the exchange rate was .61 cents there was no way I was going to pay almost double for something e.g $150 for a bag made out of Ikea frabic... I don't think so (I have nothing against Ikea fabric, but if I'm going to pay that much I want something more original).
There's lots more choice and variety on etsy... but then there's the risk of something getting stuck in customs or magically disappearing.
Made it - it seems more people are listing items and the choice is growing. Madeit has even posted a couple of my items on their blog (you can check out the most recent one here). On Madeit you pay a little extra to have your item shown randomly on the front page for 4 months or until it sells. I have chosen this option on 3 items, it gets expensive especially when the items are low in price.
So I'm going to give my madeit store a go!
I will keep my etsy store up and running, although it's been neglected lately.
Today I'm working on a banksia template for screenprinting, it's looking good.

More Button Rings

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

What I've been working on....

Button Rings
I have spent the last few days experimenting and creating some funky, unique button rings that are adfordable and just in time for last minute christmas gifts!!
I've added some to my made it store
I have a PROMO - Buy 3 get one free
Blog readers - If you buy 3 you get one free and free postage within Australia.
I have more... but I need to take photos

What am I going to do today?

After a lot of convincing from Scott I got out of bed early and went for a walk along Kirra Beach. I'm not a morning person!!!

The walk was great! There were a couple of sun burnt grey nomads out, a few old guys in their dick stickers, a family taking photos at the beach and a tractor turning the sand... ahh the serenity!!

On Monday I came off second best with an incident with the screen door - I don't know how I managed it but I have a large cut on my ankle that's looking gross, so hopefully the salt water will help it heal. Anyway that's what Scott said, he also said something about it needing stitches and if I don't put something on it to stop infection they would have to cut my foot off (slight over exaggeration I reckon, but it did motivate me to out some tea tree oil on it).

I've already ticked something off my day zero list - I motivated someone to start their own!! Scott started a list. First on his list was "get a tattoo". I read this and let out an uncontrolled gasp. I don't mind tattoos I just think they are too permanent.

I have nothing planned today... what am I going to do????

Day Zero

Last week my friend Jan told me about Day Zero - create a list of 101 things you want to achieve in 1001 days. Jan inspired me yesterday when she finished her list... so today I completed mine!!
As I look over my list most things are about eating, drinking and travelling - hmm doesn't that say something about me.
I can't wait to tick things off my list and share with you what I want to achieve... wish me luck!!!

Wedding Photos

Just a few photos from the wedding I went to yesterday. Australia experienced a HEAT WAVE... it was bloody hot! But nothing a cold beer and a bottle of water couldn't cure.

Wedding Tomorrow

One of my best mates Bec aka Puff is getting married tomorrow!!!
Bec told me she was having a shotgun wedding when I came back from Texas - I had spent too much time in Texas because I was concerned about what she was going to do with this shotgun.

Bec and I joked that she would a 2 piece tartan number on her wedding day... I hope I see some tartan!

So tomorrow Scott and I are heading out bush. With so many friends getting married at the beach, it will be nice to head in the opposite direction... that's if I don't get lost. Google map as been of no help!

Today I got out my screen printing gear. Here are the results.
The picture above is printed on a purple shirt.
I had a blue shirt and experimented printed a lino cut on a shirt with fabric paint. The image is too detailed and I don't think I had enough paint on the lino.

I'm new to screen printing, so I'm experimenting and seeing what I come up with.

Babies Babies Babies

It seems that all my friends are pregnant! Ok this is a slight exaggeration... but I know 3 people due in the same week of April!

One of my best friends just found out she's having a baby boy in April 2010. I can't wait to meet the little fella! I just searched (aussie version of Etsy) and here are some cute things I found.

Baby Booties from Funky Monsters

Bib Summertime

Brown Cords (When I first met scott he lived in a pair of brown cords) from IntheRound

Red Riding Hood Jacket (I want one for myself) from LittleRay

I've blogged a lot about my love for Aussie Wildflowers. I've started a series of drawings on them, I've conquered the Banksia and my next flower is the waratah. I found this design by Nicola Cerini. She makes it look easy!! Just like with the banksia I'm having some trouble designing the waratah... I know when I'm least expecting the design will come to me and it will be easy to put pen to paper. For now I will continue experimenting and looking at other people's designs. I'm not working today, so I'm sitting at my desk designing a banksia drawing for my friends Bec and Dyl who are getting married this weekend. So far the drawing is a skeleton and I'm being far too neat... maybe I should leave it and come back to it this afternoon with a glass of wine!

New Purchase

Last night when Scott returned from his work fishing trip, he was looking at my blog and saw the comment Loopiforyou left on my blog about Sea Kayaking in New Zealand. I came across Loopi a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with this bag, I showed it to my mum and she liked to too... so I had to show it to Scott. The next thing I know he's committed to the buy!! There's nothing like a Sunday night purchase from etsy.

If you like souveniours
If you like teatowels
and if you love bags check out Loopiforyou
There's a New Zealand Bag I have my eye on!!!

More things I want from Ebay

I want I want I want... Do I need? YES
I'm loving ebay, but the few things I bid on, I'm outbid in the final seconds or I completely forgot about it and the auction ends.
