I WON - WOOHOO

I've returned home and to get inspired I've been looking at Aussie Etsy stores and blogs - I haven't got my butt into gear to get my etsy store back up and running. My excuse is that I'm going to go in a new direction... this direction is so new, I haven't decided on what it will be. Anyway back to my point, I stumbled across Up in Annies Room who was having a giveaway. I followed and commented and I won woohoo. I'm very excited.
In other news I'm moving on Wednesday, we have a house, some of our furniture is being delivered (the rest is somewhere over the Pacific Ocean). Life is good.
Check out Up in Annies blog as she has another fab giveaway, which if your lucky enough could be coming your way.... and if anyone has any ideas for my etsy store please let me know.

House Hunting

Today we went to look at a few places to live in. Things weren't off to a good start when the first property had an application approved that morning. This place had a funky red kitchen and I really wanted to check it out. Oh well.

The second place we went was nicknamed "house on a hill" and on a hill it was - and it was NOT a house... it was a glorified unit. Where to start... the garage had been condemed - meaning dangerous to humans and not to be used. You would think the owner of the house would remove the building and at least have some off street parking. Anyway we climbed the uneven stairs to the top (without falling over... BONUS). House on a hill had a lovely view, I would've loved having a morning coffee and looking over the Tweed River and the ocean. Things didn't get better. It was 2 bedrooms... more like 1 very small room and shoe box. The kitchen was nice but there was no where for Scott's giant fridge. We ventured outside to the large hill of grass. Scott asked about lawn maintenance... turns out all that grass would be mown by us (when I say us I mean Scott). Scott looked tired just looking at it. Things got even worse when we went to laundry room. We didn't know if past occupants had left their washing in the machine or if we had to share it - turns out we had to share it! No way. As much as I love neighbours... I don't want them walking that close to my house to use the shared laundry and clothes line.... while we have to maintain the grass (front and back all on a great decline)

Property 3 - Is a quick 5 minute walk to the beach. After living in land locked Dallas I have almost forgotten the beach.

We both really like this place.. it was cute, kinda small... but we own ahhhh no furniture, apart from a giant fridge... you can tell where our priorities are!!! It had 2 decent sized rooms and a little room that I can do my art in. It just had a great vibe. So we put an application in. Fingers crossed.

Also we went to Grill'd which is my fave burger shop and had lunch and they serve beer. Heaven...

Back to Reality

So I thought I would write about what I've been doing since returning home. Yeah I haven't done much. I've been indulging on Aussie food, looking for somewhere to live and adjusting to Winter. Have I mentioned it's freezing cold?

We haven't found anywhere to live (we also changed our minds on where to live which hasn't helped). I often get distracted and start looking at places that are well out of our price range... but they look so nice. Anyway we have 3 places to look at tomorrow - fingers crossed.
Will keep you posted

It's Good to be Home

I'm home and it feels so good. I didn't realise how much I missed the Australian accent!!
We left Dallas at 7:30pm on Sunday night, I got a shock when the lady at the ticketing counter told us that we had been upgraded on the flight from LA to Brissy.
We boarded the plane and bussiness felt like heaven, we were offered a drink as soon as we sat down in glass cups (no plastic for us!!). It was great, had at least 5 hours of solid sleep - scott said it was more like 7 hours.... I'm disagreeing. The food was better, the service was better and the bathroom was bigger!!! I told scott I'm never flying economy again (yeah right).
It was great to see my folks at the airport, yes I cried. Scott who is clearly heartless didn't. We stopped for a meat pie (steak and mushroom) at Humble Pie on the way home. I finally got a Flat White coffee.... oh it was so strong.
So back to reality... I'm meant to be looking at places to live in Brisbane - so far I've checked my email and facebook.
Planning on going for a walk on the beach (which is only 15 minutes away - not a days drive) and eating some good Aussie tucker and reading the newspaper. It's good to be home!!!!
