I don't want to go to school. I really don't want to.
Today is the last day for me before school holidays.... emotionally I don't think I can survive the day.
Now is the time to start thinking positively e.g. what I will spend the money I earn today on. It's the last day. The kids will be well behaved and there will be no fights.
I'm planning on doing a day full of Easter art activities!!
Off I go........ wish me luck

Kitchen Aide

I started drawing a kitchen aide mixer yesterday. Why? Because I was looking at a magazine of the weekend and there was a shot of someones kitchen and 2 mixers took pride of place. Are these mixers a status symbol?
When I lived in the States I saw a white mixer at Walmart for $199. I saw coloured mixers in Australia about a month ago for over $700 each. YIKES!!!!
I don't cook and I think they are expensive... but they look awesome!! So a new series has begun. I don't normally show drawings this early so please ignore the pencil lines and out of proportion drawings.

My Creative Space

My Creative Space is.... broken!! Here is a picture of what happens when I child slams a laptop lid on the charger cord. It may be able to be fixed!! So I've been working on an old Dell laptop that is slow slow slow slow. It keeps disconnecting from the Internet, so I spent a lot of time today hoping for at least 5 minutes of Internet bliss.

Here are some headbands that I have been working on. They aren't the best edited photos (as I'm working on an old program and I don't trust the computer to stay connected while I work on picnik).

My first items expired on madeit today. So that means I've been on it for 4 months now and have had 17 sales. Thankyou to everyone that has bought something!!

These headbands will be added to madeit for $14 including P&H in Australia but if you would love one sooner email me at

Goodbye Laptop

This afternoon we got a visit from our young neighbour... long story short the laptop lid was shut on the power cord... and now the screen is... screwed!!!
Surprisingly the old Dell is working and I can still get my Internet fix.
I miss my laptop already

Here are some of the new headbands I made on the weekend. They are made from colours of bright coloured felt, have hand stitched detail and very cute buttons.
I listed them on Madeit this morning

My Creative Space

Here are the things in my creative space. I've had a lot of work this week (4 days compared to my normal 1 day a week) so not much going on other than some cleaning of my desk because we have family staying on the weekend.
From the top - I've been trying to expand my range so I played around and made a felt and button necklace with satin ribbon.
Middle - a pink button heart brooch
Bottom - Button and felt headband for those bad hair days (I'm having a shocking bad hair day today so I have a black headband in)

Anyway better get to school. Have a great day and head over to Kristys for more creative spaces.

I have been super lucky with giveaways lately!! I haven't won something in ages (and the last 3 that I have "won" never eventuated)

Back onto being positive. I got 2 packages today. I will share 1 now and the other tomorrow. I won this funky button necklace off divajools. I fell in love with it the moment I stumbled across her blog. Sue had 3 necklaces to give away and only 3 bloggers entered.

Lucky me!!! So I'm wearing it and I love it.

Go on... go check out her blog

My Creative Space

This week I have been playing with my Eames Chair designs. I rolled some red paint onto paper (watercolour was the only paper I had) and drew my design on.
and did the same with the other chair

All chairs together.
I don't know what I think of the end result... sometimes I look at all the red and think someone has cut themselves badly. It feels good to experiment!

I also rearranged the shelf in my kitchen. Our kitchen is tiny and this shelf is meant to be for extra storage. But our place is very dusty so I use the shelf to display pretty things. I bought speakers for my Ipod so music has returned to my home!!!

Too many choices!

Next month Scott and I are off to New Zealand. We've hired a van and plan on travelling around the south island for 10 days. Last week we finally booked the van (after months of saying "we should book the van tonight")
So today I'm looking at motels to stay at in Christchurch - and there's too much choice!!!
Have you been? Where did you stay Christchurch?

LOVE - Orange, Apple, Carrot and Ginger freshly squeezed juice.
HATE - Cleaning the juicer when I've finished my juice.

My Place and Yours

My Place and Yours has a new home!! Find it at Hello Owl and play along
This week "Behind the Camera"
A self portrait challenge!
So this is my self portrait. It was taken on a road trip somewhere between Alice Springs and Katherine.
A friend and I left Alice at 6am armed with a Maccas Coffee and Raisin Toast.
There was lots of singing, laughing, and a phone fight in Tennant Creek between my friend and her boyfriend. Very eventful!!
I took this photo out of boredom, trying to entertain myself while this verbal fight was going on.
So this is ME.....
I'm Gemma!!

I love bags and scarfs and think you can never have enough.

I hate flies... they drive me bonkers!

I live on the Southern Gold Coast... but dream of returning to Melbourne or moving to Perth or moving overseas.

My passion is drawing and I'm thinking of changing careers... maybe graphic design...

My favourite colour is RED!!

My exicted that my place and yours is back!!!

I don't collect badges but I have quite a few!!!
I started acquiring badges at music festivals.... drunken purchases I think.
Anyway they found a home on this pink hat a few years ago and yesterday I pinned a few to my art apron for school (I was selective... didn't think "drink till he's cute" was appropriate for my little darlings)

Do you have a collection?

Guess where I went....

I went to GoMA in Brissy on Friday to see the Asia Pacific exhibition. Not my style of art but art is there to challenge and inspire us... plus it was free!!!
My favourite piece was this sculpture by Kohei Nawa.
"Fascinated by how we navigate objects in virtual world via the Internet, Nawa enters key words into web search engines and creates sculptures based on the images that are returned, with his objects - such as taxidermied animals - sourced from online auction sites".
"Nawa's skin of glass beads magnifies the object in some areas and distorts it in others, shifting our perception and questioning how we encounter things in our daily environment.
This sculpture got lots of attention. One kid couldn't resist and touched it, he was surprised it was hard.
